Drug boss capture fortells downfall of ‘Los Rastrojos’

Colombian Police claim that the capture of renowned drug lord ’06’ has brought them closer to the dismantling of one of Colombia’s most powerful narcotics cartels.

Juan Carlos ’06’ Rivera Ruiz is believed to be the right-hand man of Luis Enrique and Javier Antonio Calle, also known as the Comba brothers and leaders of drug gang ‘Los Rastrojos’ who control drug trade in the Colombian Pacific. U.S. authorities have requested the extradition of ’06’ for his involvement in the transportation of almost 100 tons of drugs into the United States.

Rivera Ruiz is alleged to part of the key members of the organization and fundamental for the sending of drugs to the Unites States.

The capture of ’06’ also is bringing authorities closer to the arrest of the capos of the ‘Los Rastrojos’ cartel, Police claim.

The drug cartel lead by the Calle brothers was formed from the remnants of the Norte del Valle cartel, who ruled the drug trade in western Colombia in the late 90’s after the Cali cartel was dismantled.
