Colombian airline Avianca announced on Saturday that eight principal flight routes will be transferred to Bogota’s newly renovated El Dorado airport terminal #1.
65% of the airline company’s national flights will be transferred to the recently renovated terminal #1, according to El Tiempo newspaper.
The flights serving Barranquila, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Medellin, Pasto, Pereira, and San Andres will be conducted out of the terminal #1. The rest of flights will stay in terminal #2 that requires a special airport bus to access, at an inconvenience to travelers.
Close to 240 daily flights will be conducted out of the renovated airport terminal with the new changes, affecting around 14,000 travelers, according to El Tiempo.
Avianca flights going to Armenia, Barrancabermeja, Cúcuta, Florencia, Ibagué, Leticia, Manizales, Montería, Neiva, Popayán, Riohacha, Santa Marta, Valledupar, Villavicencio, and Yopal will stay in the terminal #2.
Avianca is Colombia’s biggest airline company, with a commanding presence in the domestic flight market. Avianca was chosen by 7.1 million domestic travelers during January to August of last year.
The airport renovations cost over $900 million dollars and were completed in October of 2013.
