Colombian authorities claimed Sunday to have “identified” a Twitter user sending insulting messages to Bogota mayor Gustavo Petro — a user who has not kept his identity secret.
A boy identifying himself as Jose Lopez, using the Twitter account @el_maspapi, sent various insulting and one threatening messages to Petro on the social networking site on Saturday.
The threat, a tweet that was no longer visible Monday morning, told Petro “you will not make it through the year.”
Bogota police claimed to have “identified” Lopez’s public Twitter account, despite no attempt having being made to hide it. They also said Petro would be given full police protection.
The Twitter kid, who also told television presenter Carolina Cruz that he wanted to penetrate her, has accused the mayor of having guerrilla sympathies, with one tweet reading, “Your actions only reflect guerrilla passions and feelings!”
Responding to Lopez, Petro tweeted, “Your words only reflect the quality of your head and your heart.”
