Colombian army kills FARC leader and security head in Meta

Colombia News - Alias Jagwin

Colombian armed forces shot down a FARC leader and head of security for alias “Romaña,” part of the organization’s top leadership, in Meta on Monday.

Jose Yilber Garcia Sanchez, alias “Jagwin,” was killed by army forces during combat on the Brisas de la Guayabera route in the Meta department’s Uribe municipality.

Jagwin, head of the FARC’s “Marquetalia” company, was also in charge of security for alias “Romaña,” who is one of FARC’s most-wanted men, with a $2.5 million price on his head from the United States.

General Luis Fernando Navarro, commander of the army’s Rapid Deployment Force, said that Jagwin’s capture was the result of three months of operations against the Romaña security ring, newspaper El Universal reported.

According to newspaper CM&, the FARC leader was also a member of the security ring for the organization’s late top commander alias “Mono Jojoy,” as well as in charge of installing mine camps and explosives for the guerrilla organization.
