Colombian actor John Leguizamo returns home to star in one-man show

Colombian actor John Leguizamo has been preparing for a new stage show in Bogota, Medellin and Cali.

Leguizamo, best known for his roles in Carlito’s Way, Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, will be the one-man star of “Boy of the Barrio,” which opens in Bogota on January 27.

The actor was born in Bogota but moved to New York at the age of four. He started out as a stand-up on the New York comedy circuit, before getting his Hollywood break in the superhero film Super Mario Bros.

The film was a critical and commercial failure but led to Leguizamo’s role as Brian de Palma in Carlito’s Way, which sent his career on an steady upward path.

Tickets for “Boy of the Barrio” will go on sale on Monday via the Que Buena Compra website and on Wednesday 21 via Ticket Express.
