Navy seizes almost 2 tons cocaine in Caribbean

Colombian news - Cocaine

Colombian authorities on Tuesday confiscated more than 1.887 kilos of cocaine from a speedboat in the Caribbean near Acandi, close to the border with Panama.

All five men on board the boat were detained, following a chase by the Caribbean naval force, reports AFP.

A source from the navy told the news agency that the detained men and the drugs, worth $38 million, were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Uraba.

Weapons, communication and navigation equipment were also found on the vessel.

This latest interception follows the seizure by the Colombian navy earlier in September of more than a ton of cocaine that was being transported by motorboat along a river in the Arboletes region in the Antioquia department to the Caribbean.
