From electro pop to Longboard mayhem and banging car stereo rock to some of the world’s best DJs, this weekend in Bogota is shaping up to be a large and diverse affair.
Friday night sees the first instalment of an electro double-header on the 30th floor of the Tequendama Hotel which will bring together three of the world’s top DJs.
John Digweed, Ferry Corsten and Gareth Emery have all repeatedly topped charts and polls in recent years and will bring their skills to Bogota two Fridays in a row.
Friday is “black and white night,” with guys dressed in black and girls in white. Tickets range from COP100,000 to a cool COP7 million for a VIP box.
Described as “the king of electro-pop,” Scotsman Calvin Harris has enjoyed breakaway success in the last few years. His 80s disco-influenced sounds have produced a couple of number one tracks, including “Dance Wiv Me,” in collaboration with rapper Dizzee Rascal.
Harris will rock Bogota’s Metro Theater tonight with a show that will surely move the crowd with electroclash grooves and dirty disco drops. Tickets are from COP60,000-70,000 and are available at La Famiglia restaurant.
For those more inclined to headbang in the back seat of a hot-boxed Camaro, the V5 Car Audio Rock Festival at Corferias show grounds should fit the bill.
Extreme car audio set ups will back up sounds provided by Medellin’s Nepentes, Superlitio of Cali, and Tr3s de Corazon and Black Pop from Bogota. The Colombian BMX team will also be performing. Tickets are COP15,000.
On Sunday the Festival of Descent will test the limits of skateboard speed as longboarders from around the world vie for the Bogota crown.
The 1.2 km daredevil track will connect Avenida Circunvalar with the seventh and competitors include world number two Patrick Switzer and the top U.S. longboarder, James Kelly.

Artists will perform on various stages throughout the Colombian capital from the 22nd to the 27th of November. Many of the events are free.
