Bogota mayor Gustavo Petro was admitted to hospital where he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot in the brain, reported local media Thursday.
“After examining [Petro], we can document a subdural hematoma which we removed surgically in a satisfactory way,” a medical report said.
Petro is recovering well from the surgery and will remain in hospital until Monday. He is expected to return to work next Thursday.
This is the second time the Bogota mayor was hospitalized over severe headaches. On June 15, Petro underwent an emergency surgery to remove two blood clots.
