Colombia’s national airline Avianca signed a code-share cooperation deal, Wednesday, with Germany’s Lufthansa, allowing customers of both airlines to book seats on the other airline’s flights.
The agreement will make it easier for customers in Colombia to book flights to destinations in Europe. In the first stage of the code-share deal Avianca will begin selling tickets between Bogota and Frankfurt, and Lufthansa will offer flights to Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Medellin and Pereira. In the second stage of the code-share Avianca customers flying to Madrid and Barcelona will have travel options within Europe.
Lufthansa operates 76 long-haul flights per week between Europe and South America, according to the Lufthansa press release. Avianca currently flies to 22 domestic destinations and 22 international destinations in 15 different countries.
