Angie Cepeda to play Escobar’s former lover

After a search that knocked on the door of Hollywood royalty Paola Turbay, Angie Cepeda has been tipped to play Pablo Escobar’s former lover Virginia Vallejo in a new TV drama, reports gossip website Sweet.

According to talent insiders at Caracol television, an extensive search was conducted to find the right lady to play the infamous Virginia Vallejo, who was a leading Colombian media personality and socialite until her much publicized five-year relationship with Escobar, head of the Medellin Cartel.

According to the sources, Turbay had been asked to play the role, but turned it down in favor of Colombia’s Got Talent, which airs on rival station Canal RCN.

Meanwhile Angie, who has been busy filming in the U.S., is said to be over the moon at winning the part, and is rushing back to Colombia to begin filming in a few short weeks.
