Seven tons of marijuana were seized in rural municipalities in the central Colombian department of Caldas over Halloween weekend, RCN Radio reports.
The Caldas government secretary, Henry Murillo Arboleda, said that operations in Anserma, Chinchina, La Dora and Manziales led to the arrest of 15 individuals.
Murillo added that there will be more vigorous action against small-scale drug trafficking in the coming days. This is a war against illicit activity and against those who engage in it, he explained.
The U.S. state of California will vote Tuesday in a referendum over marijuana legalization. Colombian officials have opposed the vote, saying that it will harm their efforts to fight the drug trade.
