Alleged ‘Los Paisas’ chief arrested

Colombian police said Tuesday they have arrested one of the alleged leaders of neo-paramilitary drug trafficking gang “Los Paisas” in Medellin.

Luis Fernando Jaramillo Arroyave, alias “Nano,” was arrested in a restaurant on Las Palmas road in Medellin, in the company of Anderson Vanoy, the son of extradited paramilitary commander “Cuco” Vanoy, and two women.

Authorities say Arroyave entered in the drug business in the mid-1980s, worked with the paramilitary group AUC before it was demobilized, and joined up with drug traffickers the Usuga brothers, who are currently leading the neo-paramilitary group “Los Urabeños.”
