Alleged leader of ‘Los Rastrojos’ captured

The alleged leader of the criminal gang “Los Rastrojos,” was captured in an operation orchestrated by the Colombian army and National Police.

According to Colombia’s Prosecutor General’s office, Edison Viloria Rios, alias “Jorge 18,” was captured on Tuesday. Jorge 18 is considered the head of the criminal organization which operates in the Colombian municipalities of Segovia, El Bagre and Zaragoza in the Antioquia department.

Los Rastrojos are allegedly responsible for at least 100 homicides in the Cauca and Antioquia departments.

Rios denied the Prosecutor General’s charge of aggravated conspiracy.
