126 politicians involved in parapolitics

126 Colombian politicians have links to paramilitary groups, online news magazine Colombia Para Todos reported on Tuesday.

Six politicians have accepted the charges for their so-called parapolitics, among them one senator, one mayor and four representatives.

Another six politicians have been sentenced for their links to paramilitary groups; three former governors, two representatives and one deputy.

Sixteen political leaders are standing trial at the moment: eight senators, three representatives, three deputies and two indigenous leaders.

Thirty-three politicians are currently under investigation for parapolitics, among them fifteen mayors, seven senators, seven representatives, two governors, one congressmen and one deputy.

Nine politicians have been asked to testify about parapolitics including the Minister of Finance, Oscar Dario Zuluaga, three senators, four representatives and one ex deputy.

Twenty-five politicians were subjected to preliminary investigation: seven senators, six representatives, the governor of Sucre, the former governor of Cordoba, five mayors, three congressmen and two deputies.

Thirty-one other politicians have been mentioned to be involved with paramilitaries, among them the governor of Antioquia, former governor of Tolima, former governor of Bolivar and various mayors and deputies.

The author of the “parapolitician list” suggested to “spread the information … to send copies to friends and in a few years we will have a less corrupt and homicidal country.”
