11 suspected members of Aguilas Negras captured

Police captured 11 alleged members of the emergent drug trafficking gang Aguilas Negras in various operations across Colombia’s departments of Cordoba and Antioquia on Monday.

According to authorities, among those captured are a soldier from the national military, the superintendent of the Police Force and a former candidate for the mayorship of a municipality in southern Cordoba, Carlos Arango – all suspected of being involved in illegal activity for Aguilas Negras, reported news station Caracol.

Cordoba’s police commander, Colonel Sergio Lopez Miranda confirmed that the 11 arrests came as a result of official raids across various towns and he emphasized that more operations are being conducted throughout Cordoba and Antioquia.
