Venezuela extradites Colombian paramilitary leaders

Venezuela on Thursday extradited Colombian paramilitary warlord “Martin Llanos” and his brother “Caballo” following their arrest earlier this week.

The two former members of paramilitary organization AUC were flown from the Venezuelan capital of Caracas to the Colombian capital of Bogota where they were arrested by judicial authorities.

Martin Llanos, whose real name is Hector Buitrago, was one of the highest-ranked leaders of the demobilized AUC who never surrendered to authorities while other paramilitary commanders took part in a peace process with the government.

Llanos was considered one of the main drug traffickers in the east of the country until his arrest Monday over the Venezuelan border.
