Uribe to campaign in 2011 local elections

Former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe on Tuesday annouced that he would actively campaign to support aspiring mayors and governors in the 2011 local elections.

Uribe spoke at an event organized by Primero Colombia, an “Uribista” organization led by the two-term president’s former advisor Jose Obdulio Gaviria.

“I know that many are thinking about the mayors, governors, council members and deputies to be elected next year. Well, start thinking about the issue and promptly we will begin working with patriotism and love for the country, calling on the people, so that we do a thoughtful analysis and projection in each region of the country,” Uribe said.
