Uribe still vague about 2010 election run

Colombia President Alvaro Uribe has not yet decided whether he will run
for the 2010 presidential election in 2010 if he can, Interior and
Justice Minister Fabio Valencia Cossio said Wednesday.

Hours before Valencia’s statement, Conservative congressmen reported that Uribe said “we are all going” when he was asked about his re-election, according to newspaper El Espectador.

Valencia denied this saying that the President has not yet decided regarding his possible third mandate.

The referendum needed to allow Uribe a third
term is facing two lawsuits and an approaching deadline. Political Uribe supporters already have expressed their fear that the referendum will not find its way through Congress in time.
