Uribe raises rewards for FARC chiefs

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe announced the government raised the
reward for information leading to the arrest of FARC commanders ‘El
Paisa’, ‘El Flecha’ and ‘El Corcho’.

The reward for ‘El Paisa’, suspected of leading the FARC’s mobile ‘Teofilo Forero’ column, was raised to US$830 thousand, while that of ‘El Corcho’ was raised to US$215 thousand.

According to Uribe, El Paisa has given control over the Teofilo Forero column to’El Corcho’ and has moved to the Meta department to assume control over the guerrillas in charge of the personal security of FARC secretariat member ‘Mono Jojoy’.

The President warned the FARC is planning to disrupt the coming election year through terrorist attacks and called on security forces to be extra alert.
