Uribe orders intensified operations against ELN

Colombian President Álvaro Uribe ordered the army to intensify its
operations against Colombia’s second largest rebel group ELN in the
north east of the country.

Uribe said Monday in Cúcuta the guerrillas were involved with drug
traffickers in the area bordering Venezuela and announced more news
about the ties between rebels and criminals later this week.

According to the President, most kidnappings taking place in the east of Colombia should be contributed to the ELN.
