The son of Colombian ex-President Alvaro Uribe said Friday the Twitter account of his father was used by others to attack President Juan Manuel Santos.
“We are investigating who used the twitter account of @AlvaroUribeVel to send an offensive message to Pres. @JuanManSantos,” Uribe’s son Tomas tweeted Friday evening.
“It is important to know that the Twitter and Facebook accounts and the website of AUV are co-managed by a group of persons,” Tomas Uribe continued.
Uribe, who frequently lashes out against political opponents through his social media accounts, last week wrote that “many of us suffer from violence, others take advantage of it for their political gain,” reffering to Santos.
The snide was returned by Santos, who at a forum said that once he left office he will dedicate to teaching and not “bother” his successors.
Uribe never retracted or removed the remark, which was sent from a Blackberry.
