Uribe disavows statements of aggression against Venezuela

President Alvaro Uribe said on Tuesday that as long as he is President, Colombia will not have a strategy of international aggression.

Uribe disavowed any statements of aggression against the neighbouring Venezuela and called for the “nurturing of affection” with the people of Venezuela, reported news station Caracol Radio.

“Our message for all time has to be a message of affection to the brotherly people of Venezuela. The President of the Republic disavows any mention of a retaliatory mood – a spirit of international war, this country will not permit. We only have the goal to defeat an internal problem of terrorism,” said Uribe in an interview with National Radio.

The president reiterated that Colombia has a history of problems regarding terrorism and authorities were fighting to conquer this will all their might but Uribe stressed that Colombia will maintain its tradition of passivity towards the international community.
