Uribe confident ties to Ecuador will be restored quickly

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe said Friday he is confident ties to neighboring country Ecuador will be restored quickly.

Ecuador broke ties to Colombia in March 2008 after the Colombian army bombed a FARC base on Ecuadorean territory.

On Thursday, the two countries jointly announced they were finding ways to restore diplomatic ties.

“Our Foreign Minister, doctor [Jaime] Bermudez and Foreign Minister Fander Falconi of Ecuador have done a great job. With God’s will this will continue to go well,” the President said from Boston, MA.
