Uribe calls to create quality jobs to confront economic crisis

Colombian President Álvaro Uribe called on the country’s commercial
sector to create quality jobs Thursday to confront the economic crisis
that turned Colombia’s 10-year economic growth into a contraction of
its GDP.

“Something very important that we need to take into account in the debate on employment in Colombia now is that high technology employment needs to be created, not without high technology,” the President said in a press statement following the news that Colombia’s GDP shrunk 0.7 percent.

According to Uribe, Colombia wants to join the world economic market and can not sacrifice the quality of employment to address the anguish of the masses.

Uribe called on Colombians to help the National Government to overcome the economically difficult times.

The President announced that Bogotá will come with a plan soon that should stimulate the economy and offer a way out of the economic crisis.
