Two council members murdered

Authorities in the Cundinamarca department Sunday found the bodies of two members of the council of Sumapaz, the rural area just south of Colombia’s capital, Bogota.

The bodies of the two Liberal Party politicians were found in the Sumapaz river near the village of Nazareth. Both politicians appeared to have died from gun shot wounds.

The authorities blame leftist rebels of the FARC for the double homicide and offer a 50 million peso reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of the murders.
