According to Colombian immigration statistics, 52% of the tourists who come to Colombia prefer to visit Bogota.

In the first semester of 2009, over 600.000 tourists visited the Colombian capital, 11% more than in the same period in 2008.

Elsa Muñoz, director of the city’s heritage institute, says that although there is still work to be done, Bogota’s administration has carried out specific programs to make the city more appealing to foreign tourists.

Bogota has many tourist attractions, like the colonial neighborhood of la Candelaria, and the Gold Museum.
