Tolima stay on top, Santa Fé held back

Deportes Tolima are the new sole leaders in the Colombian Copa Mustang
II after a home win over Junior Barranquilla, while Santa Fé failed to
keep up and drew at Once Caldas.

Tolima come back from behind

Deportes Tolima needed a win to keep the lead – at least shared – in
the Copa Mustang II and did just that, although it was anything but
easy. The visiting side, Junior Barranquilla, had won four of their
previous six games and compete for the top spots in the league.

In fact, Junior took the lead through Cortes in the 13th minute but Marangoni did well to level the score eight minutes later.

The winning goal, as it turned out, came three minutes ahead of the break when Arizala made it 2-1 to the home side.

Santa Fé held in Manizales

Independiente Santa Fé had a good chance to maintain their lead, as
a win would have been enough to keep sharing the top spot with Tolima.

But in Manizales, Santa Fé never managed to impress and the
Bogotanos were sent home with just one point after a goalless draw,
which leaves them in third place behind Tolima and city rivals
Millonarios.

Bucaramanga fail to get past Huila

Atlético Bucaramanga had their good recent performance somewhat
halted by Atlético Huila, against whom they could only earn one point.

Cuellar had put Huila in the lead just ahead of half time, but
Cárdenas limited the home side’s damage with his equaliser in the 85th
minute.

Other action on Sunday

Boyaca Chicó finally managed to record their second win of the
season, away to Envigado FC near Medellín. Perez scored twice, in the
64th and 66th minutes, to decide the clash. Serna’s goal for 1-2 in the
77th minute was insufficient for the hosts.

Deportes Quindío earned three valuable points at home versus
Deportivo Pereira, and now occupy the ninth spot in the league,
allowing them to hope for a top-eight classification at the end of the
season. The goals were scored by Santoya and Rodas.

Independiente Medellín finally left the last position in the league,
leaving the honour to Cúcuta, with a convincing 3-1 win over Deportivo
Pasto. Martinez’ first half goal was cancelled out by Pasto’s Mosquera
in the second, but Martinez would add another in the 71st minute to
restore the gap. Hidalgo’s goal for 3-1 in the 88th minute decided the
match.
