3 dead in suspected FARC attack

Three people have been murdered by suspected FARC militants in north-west Colombia.

A farm manager and two brothers were taken hostage and killed by around 25 militants in the village of Chontadural, Uraba, Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The attackers then burned down a house and planted mines on the road leading to the village, an Army spokesman said.

Anti-explosive personnel deactivated the mines and other soldiers took control of the area, said Colonel Javier Vallejo.

According to a different Army source, an attempted FARC attack against a farmers’ co-operative in Chaparral, Tolima department, was prevented when suspected guerilla Emilario Sabogal was arrested.
