Supreme Court workers threatened in DAS wiretap case

Two cafeteria workers who are suspected of helping intelligence agency DAS infiltrate the Supreme Court asked to be included in a witness protection program after receiving death threats.

The two women allegedly worked with DAS-spy Alba Luz Florez to put wiretapping devices inside the court offices.

Following the testimony of Florez – who is now a key witness – the women received death threats and want to become witnesses too in order to obtain protection.

The Supreme Court asked the Prosecutor General’s Office and Inspector General’s Office to consider the women’s request.

The DAS became the subject of a scandal in 2009 when allegations were made public that the administration of then-President Alvaro Uribe had ordered the wiretapping of magistrates, members of the press, opposition politicians, and human rights workers.

Uribe was forced to dismantle the DAS, Interpol transferred its cooperation with Colombian authorities to the national police, and U.S. Congress ruled that neither the DAS nor its successors will receive any financial aid from the U.S. government.
