The new Miss Bogota is crowned

Miss Bogota 2012 was crowned and will represent the nation’s capital in the upcoming Miss Colombia pageant.

Loly Fuentes, a 22-year-old university student originally from Barranquilla, was chosen from a competitive field of 6 candidates vying for the crown.

Fuentes is proud to represent her adopted city, a place “which opens the doors to all Colombians,” she told RCN Radio.

She was discovered on a Bogota street by designer Alexander Rojas, who convinced the psychology student to enter the competition.

Fuentes relied on her natural good looks to win the title, as she has not undergone any plastic surgery, a common practice for Colombian beauty queens.

The Miss Colombia pageant gets underway in November.
