Get set to tango in Medellin

The International Tango Festival will glide into the central Colombian city of Medellin in June, to the delight of dancers, academics, collectors and fans from the world over.

From June 24 to 27, the streets and clubs of Medellin will be filled with the melancholy strains of the dramatic dance music. Competitions, conferences, classes and free tango shows will be showcased throughout the parks of the “city of eternal Spring.”

The festival will pay hommage to Argentine tango superstar Carlos Gardel, who met an untimely death in a plane crash in Medellin in June 1935.

Presentations of tango, theater and cinema, as well as artisan festivals and art exhibitions, will also be held around the city during the four day event.

For more information on the festival visit Medellin’s tourism website.
