South Colombia ‘bomb attack’ kills 2, injures 7

An alleged bomb attack on a police station in southern Colombia killed two and seriously injured seven on Friday.

The blast occured around 10PM inside the police station in the town of Orito, Putumayo.

The two fatalities are the wife and son of the local police commander, Orito mayor Argenis Velasquez told RCN Radio.

“The captain arrived in Orito with his wie and son three days ago. According to the information I have people lost their arms and legs,” said the mayor.

Refusing to name the suspected perpetrator of the attack, Velasquez said to be surprised about the attack since “a situation like this hasn’t occured in 15 years.”

Leftist guerrilla groups and drug trafficking gangs have a strong presence in the area around Orito.
