Smart phones to guide Bogota tourists

Bogota has introduced a city tourist guide for smart phones in preparation for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup tourism surge, reported El Tiempo Wednesday.

The cutting-edge tool allows visitors to access Bogota’s best entertainment, culture, shopping and religion options by scanning a barcode with their smart phone.

The application can even locate its user and describe the best restaurants and attractions within two miles.

And tourists need not worry about getting lost: the tool provides directions and an estimation of travel time to one’s destination.

The District Institute of Tourism released the application in promotion of the FIFA U-20 World Cup to take place in Colombia this July.
