Colombia’s first national slackline competition will take place this Saturday, October 12, in Bogota.
Slacklining is relatively new in Colombia, but the sport – in which you walk from one end of a flexed line to the other while exhibiting tricks like bouncing up and down and alternating between sitting and standing – can now be seen in many of Bogota’s parks.
The sport, which was born in the USA, is practised by children and adults between the ages of 7 and 65, and is at its most extreme when the line is stretched over a great height like a precipice.
Unlike a tightrope, the slackline is not held completely taut, which makes it easier to perform dynamic tricks.
The winner of the slackline competition is the one who does the most varied tricks, some of which should involve a high risk of falling.
