Shakira to promote her father’s book

Colombian pop star Shakira will promote her father’s book in Bogota on Monday, local media reported.

William Mebarak, the father of Colombia’s pop sensation, wrote “Al viento y al azar” (“The wind and the chance”), which according to the editors is a collection of love stories, other pieces of fiction and opinion essays.

Shakira edited and wrote the prologue to the book, which she took as an opportunity to profess her love to her father: “Not only did he give me life, he also kept inspiring me every day,” the singer wrote.

The book launch marked Shakira’s debut as an editor.

The Barranquilla beauty will also start the promotion of her latest DVD, “Live from Paris.”
