‘Sebastian’ had better weapons than army

“Sebastian,” the leader of Medellin-based crime syndicate Oficina de Envigado who was arrested Wednesday, owned weapons that are more technologically advanced than Colombia’s Armed Forces.

The weapon arsenal of Erick Vargas, alias Sebastian, included a grenade launcher, hand grenades, seven high-end rifles, nine pistoles, 11,000 cartridges and night vision devices.

According to the radio station, it is the first time authorities have found a grenade launcher in the hands of a drug lord.

Sebastian, who became top commander of the crime syndicate in 2008, was captured Wednesday morning in a hideout outside of the city of Medellin. He will be extradited to the United States to face drug trafficking charges.
