Santos tweets: Paraguay captures Colombian gangster

Paraguayan officials captured Colombian gangster “El Runcho,” President Juan Manuel Santos tweeted Thursday.

“Thanks to the Paraguayan and @PoliciaColombia for capturing alias ‘Runcho,’ one of the main associates of ‘El Loco’ Barrera,” the president posted on his Twitter feed.

El Runcho’s real name was not immediately available at press time.

“El Loco,” or Daniel Barrerra Barrerra, is the head of a vast cocaine trafficking network, and “is the closest thing Colombia has to a modern-day Pablo Escobar,” according to the crime think-tank Insightcrime.org.
