Colombian presidential candidate Juan Manuel Santos released a ten point plan, outlining the goals that his much-discussed “government of national unity.”
The plan draws on policies put in place by outgoing President Alvaro Uribe, such as that of “democratic security.” In the plan Santos proposes “democratic prosperity,” which focuses on quality health care, education and work, and “institutional democracy,” which supports the “respect for independence and balance of powers.”
Santos also promises “decent jobs and dignified salaries,” with each Colombian family having at least one person with a formal job. Transparency, anti-corruption, “an efficient, decentralized” administration, “zero impunity!” for criminals, and guarantees for the rights of victims.
The Partido de la U candidate also promises, if elected, that he will “strengthen relations with our neighbors, based on respect and cooperation. Colombia’s leadership will be recognized on the international stage!”
