Santos’ approval rating at 86%

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos enjoys the approval of 86% of Colombians, according to a poll released Monday.

According to the CM& poll, 9% of the interviewees disapproved of their president and the remaining 5% did not know what they thought or did not respond.

Some 72% of the interviewees said they feel the government is defending their interests, against 23% that answered negatively.

Santos is keeping his promise to not forget the most needy, said 79% of the interviewees, while 18% disagreed.

Santos’ general economic policy can also count on the approval of 73% against 20% of Colombians. However, respondents are more critical about how Santos is fighting unemployment; 49% approve government efforts to create jobs, while 44% disagree.

According to the poll 86% of Colombians think Colombia is improving, while 13% think their country is not.

Santos took office on August 7 last year and has completed his first six months as president.
