Colombian soccer side Santa Fe face a difficult task in the Copa Sudamericana, following a 2-0 loss at Atletico Mineiro in the round of sixteen first leg.
After a week in which Santa Fe was associated with illegal income and suffered the loss of sponsor Bavaria following those reports, there was more bad news from the pitch at Minas Gerais’ Joaquim Henrique Nogueira stadium in Brazil.
Atletico Mineiro striker Obina put the Brazilians in the lead after 29 minutes and went on to add a second goal two minutes after the hour.
Santa Fe will now have to overcome this deficit in the return leg, which is scheduled to be played at Bogota’s El Campin stadium on Wednesday, October 20th.
The other Colombian side that reached the round of sixteen, Deportes Tolima, defeated Argentina’s Banfield on Tuesday to secure its spot in the quarter finals.
