Rock-N-Roll Allstars abandon Bogota concert

The 11-man rock super-group Rock-N-Roll Allstars has backed out of its Bogota concert this weekend, as well as other stops on a Latin American tour.

The May 5 show, as well as dates in Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala and Venezuela were cancelled, while the band performed as scheduled in Peru, Paraguay and Argentina, the band said in a statement posted on Facebook.

“An incredible effort was made to work with local promoters to bring our show to the fans but they made it impossible for us to do so,” the statement read, without providing further explanation.

Rock-N-Roll Allstars unites American rock icons including Gene Simmons from Kiss and current and past musicians from Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Guns N’Roses, Alice In Chains and Billy Idol.

“We are saddened that we will not be coming to Central America and will do everything possible to ensure that our fans receive refunds for all tickets purchased,” the statement reads. “We hope to see every one of you soon.”

In a contradictory statement published by Radio Santa Fe, the band assured fans that the concert dates would be rescheduled and said members have been honored to be able to play for fans around the world.

That statement also said local tour organizers were not to blame for the cancellation.
