Riots erupt in Bogota after authorities shut down factory

Riots broke out in Colombia’s capital Bogota Thursday after authorities tried shutting down an illegal confection factory.

According to local media, the violence broke out in the Isla del Sol neighborhood, located in the southwest of the city.

Some 6o rioters attacked authorities, and destroyed police motorcycles and a truck of Colombia’s largest television network, RCN.

It took riot police six hours to restore order.

Five of the alleged rioters were arrested.
