Right hand man of ‘Chupeta’ arrested in Panama

Panama police say they have arrested the right hand man of a top Colombian
drug trafficker extradited to the U.S. from Brazil earlier this year.

Colombian William Johnny Tamayo Hernández was sought by U.S., Colombian and Panama authorities for homicide and drug trafficking, reported Caracol Radio.

Tamayo is said to be top assistant of alleged drug don Juan Carlos Ramírez Abadía, a.k.a. ‘Chupeta’, who pled not guilty in late August to drug trafficking charges.

‘Chupeta’ is believed to have been the leader of a cartel that smuggled US$10 billion in cocaine into the U.S. between 1990 and 2003.

Tamayo was captured Thursday night while dining at a restaurant in the center of the Panamanian capital, a police spokesperson told the radio station.
