The United States has asked Erazo Bolaños to be extradited on the charge of cocaine manufacturing and trafficking. He was moved to the high security prison of Cómbita in the Boyacá department, awaiting his extradition.Since August 2002, President Alvaro Uribe’s administration has extradited nearly 600 people, the majority of them Colombians and almost all to the United States, on drug charges.The Norte del Valle cartel, considered one of the largest drug-trafficking organizations in the world, has been accused of smuggling some 500 tons of cocaine into the United States between 1990 and 2004 via Mexico.
