Police wounded in Arauca guerrilla attack

Two policemen were seriously injured Tuesday during a routine patrole on the outskirts of Saravena in the north-east Colombian department of Arauca.

Guerrillas allegedly placed an explosive device on the road and activated it when the patrol passed, according to El Tiempo.

The two injured men were taken to the regional hospital of Arauca for treatment.

The zone where the incident occurred is a target of guerrilla activity by both the FARC and ELN.
