Colombian police seize almost 35,000 ecstasy pills

Colombian police said Tuesday that they have seized almost 35,000 ecstasy pills in the northwestern city of Cucuta.

The Metropolitan Police of Cucuta, the capital city of the Norte de Santander department, seized 34,600 doses of ecstasy Tuesday evening from a truck coming from Bogota, the country’s capital.

The truck, which was affiliated with a Colombian shipping company, was intercepted at a toll entering Cucuta where police found thousands of the psychedelic blue pills disguised as a parcel.

The doses weighed about 3,500 grams and valued an estimated $500,000 on the black market, police commander Colonel Carlos Rodriguez told the press.

This could be the largest seizure of this type of drug produced in the north of the country, according to Rodriguez.
