Police find 2 tons cocaine buried in north Colombia desert

Colombian police said Thursday they have seized 2.2 tons of cocaine that was buried in a northern desert and which has a street value of $65 million.

The drugs were found in 87 waterproof sacks several feet (metres) beneath the arid La Guajira department in the far north, a coastal department bordering Venezuela.

Police said the drugs belonged to drug gang Los Rastrojos and waqs to be shipped abroad.
