Police captures local FARC leader

Bogota police Wednesday captured an alleged leader of the FARC’s 23rd front.

After eleven months of investigation the police arrested Alberto ‘the Butcher of Landazuri’ Chaparro. The suspected guerrilla earned his name because he allegedly is a ruthless killer who literally butchered his victims in the Santander department.

“He was specialized in the installation of antipersonnel landmines and … injured or killed a little more than 150 Colombians through these explosives. Therefore, we believe that his capture is a relief for Santander,” Police Director General Oscar Naranjo told local media.

Chaparro is accused of crimes of aggravated homicide, rebellion, illegal possession of weapons and conspiracy to commit a crime.
