Colombian authorities have arrested 29 wanted drug traffickers in a joint operation with U.S authorities, said President Juan Manuel Santos on Thursday.
Without saying which drug suspects were arrested, Santos said the operation was “maybe one of the biggest” of its kind in Colombian history and called it, “a heavy blow in our struggle against drug trafficking.”
The operation, which began at 3am Thursday morning, targeted drug traffickers wanted for extradition to the U.S in four Colombian cities.
Santos said that Friday “we will give details” alongside a U.S prosecutor who flew down for the operation.
