11 soldiers charged in Soacha false positives

The Prosecutor General Thursday charged eleven soldiers with aggravated homicide and forced disappearance for their involvement in the death of two men from Soacha.

The two men are part of a group of eleven that disappeared from the town just south of Bogota in the beginning of 2008 and were reported as guerrillas killed in combat near a town close to the Venezuelan border.

The soldiers are accused to have killed the civilians and planted weapons on them to make their deaths look like genuine combat kills. The suspects deny all charges. A total of 35 members of the military are suspected of having murdered the eleven young men.
